In 2025 so far...
On 26th April, we gathered for a moving afternoon event titled The Rock of Ages. We were led in song through a beautiful selection of old hymns and their modern counterparts. It was a reflective and inspiring time of worship and music, reconnecting us with timeless messages of faith and hope. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this special event.
Our Supper and Music Fundraiser held on 22nd February was a great evening of fellowship, delicious food, and inspiring live performances. We were thrilled to host The Ageless String Band, a group of passionate local musicians who love sharing their music. Some of their members can often be seen performing at TJ’s Music Club at Marks Park in Johannesburg on Thursday evenings. We also had the privilege of welcoming Adrian & Emma-Jean, an immensely talented father & daughter duo who captivated the audience with their musical artistry. Their debut theatre show, Accidentally Viral, was a sold-out hit at Redfest and The Hilton Arts Festival in 2022. Their follow-up production, Striking a Chord, toured the UK in 2023 and was featured at the Montecasino Studio Theatre later that year. A newly reimagined version of the show, under the musical direction of Johan Heystek, was a crowd favourite at the Hilton Arts Festival in August 2024 and will be touring Canada in April 2025. We wish Adrian & Emma-Jean continued success in their musical journey! You can follow their work on social media: @Adrianandemmajeanmusic.
In 2023
On 6 May 2023 we placed our focus on fellowship across all ages. A fun day was held at Laerskool Orion where members of BMC and the greater Alberton community enjoyed a day in the great outdoors just before the cooler weather set in.
The offerings included a fun walk, vendor stalls, tea garden, live entertainment, variety of meals & refreshments, a lucky draw, vintage car display, cake stall, activities for young & old, jumping castles, etc. The committee and numerous volunteers were commended on a sterling job. The event raised over R30.000 for BMC due to the generosity of our members.
Hopefully the introduction of younger leaders would encourage young adult and families to join BMC.
We will be directed by our new Shepherd (Gavin) in terms of his aspirations in relation to future events and the bigger vision for BMC.
I look forward to working with many of you as you feel called to be part of any future events at BMC.
